Top Chef crowned its winner tonight after a long season in which the brothers Voltaggio dominated. It all began with the final three getting ready for their last cook off. Kevin, Michael and Bryan all awaited a final twist and that they received. They would be cooking three dishes to start, their first would be a mystery box dish with only certain ingredients, the second would be a dish of their choice and the third had to be a desert. One last twist was thrown in: they would have two helpers and it could be ANYONE from the entire season. They drew knives, for the last time, and the pairings were: Kevin with Preeti and Ash; Michael with Jesse and Eli and Bryan with Ashley and Jen.

Kevin was NOT happy with getting Preeti and decided to not really use her during his first prep time. Not that it helped him though, it really did hurt him as he now was way behind considering all Preeti did was cut vegetables. Bryan was very happy to have Ashley as he knew she would be there for him and work quickly but awaited second helper Jen since we all know those two work well together. Then we have Michael who was very happy to have Jesse, which was a shock. Jesse was out early and didn't do well, at all, the entire season. He acted like she was an amazing cook, maybe she IS but from the show she really wasn't. After their first day of prepping the final three returned to their hotel but the next day would bring more shocking surprises.

A knock on the door startled the three as they knew something was up but when Kevin opened it there were their mothers. Kevin's mother was very excited and seemed to be happy to see her son. She was very fun in confessionals and I kind of think had she been on the entire season it would have been 10 time more fun! Then we have the Voltaggio mom. She wasn't that exciting but seemed to be rooting for both her sons. I think they didn't really care WHO won in the end, as long as they were both there and their mother seemed to push that idea as well.

For prep day number two the real helper chefs came out to play, but wait! Yet ANOTHER twist. They now had to make a fourth dish that would be inspired by their mothers. Since when did this became Top Chef: The Twisted season? Kevin used Ash much better then he used Preeti and the two became a great pair. He pulled out a very good first dish as everyone liked it but his following dishes just kept going down hill. Most thought that Kevin's pork dish would be great, since his master pieces are usually pork, but nobody really liked it. They didn't like his desert either, feeling it was lacking and nobody really dug the bacon on the banana. In the end Kevin came in third place, making it a Voltaggio final two. Didn't we all know that though since like the second episode?

It was inevitable that the brothers would be the final two, now we just didn't know who would win. Byran had Jen working on a lot of food but his dishes were either hit or miss. It seemed like his first two weren't well liked by the judges while his venison and desert were highly appreciated and the judges thought that they were great. Those dishes didn't beat out Michael's though as he was crowned Top Chef for the dishes he created. I think they kind of looked at the entire season overall since the two brothers were so close, but three out of his four dishes were ranked highly and I think that pushed him over the edge to claim the win. I mean it didn't matter WHO won though as nobody will think of it as the season where "Michael" won. It's the season where the Voltaggio's won and I hope they never cast two brothers, sisters or siblings ever again!
