Both Hidden Idols Out During Survivor Samoa Shocker

It's been awhile since two hidden idols have gone out of Survivor in the same episode but tonight that happened with a merged tribal council. Following another loss, Foa Foa was desperate for a merge and all had it on their minds. Russell, of course, was ready to get his game on with some new people while others just wanted to stop losing. They must have known it was coming soon, the merge that is, as Russell dug up his hidden idol before leaving for the reward challenge and off they went. Before that we must talk about Galu. Things between Shambo and Laura have been getting heated as the two argued over a lost canteen. Both are strong players in the game. Some may say Shambo isn't, but I beg to differ. Laura is also a strong player and is emerging as the new leader of Galu. It should be interesting how these two connect post-merge and if they end up taking each other out.

So the inevitable happened, and we knew it was going to thanks to previews, but the two tribes merged into one blue tribe. Brett came up with the name Aiga, which supposedly means extended family. If that IS true, then that is very fitting but as in seasons past half the time their tribe name is mumbo jumbo. Following a nice feast where Foa Foa finally got to eat, and well grab onto some hopefully Galu players, the tribes returned to the Galu camp wearing their nice and bright blue buffs. Russell got right to work and the show shifted towards him yet again. Russell first grabbed Laura, showing her the idol and hoping to keep her strung along. When Laura told him she's the one in power, Russell moved on. He went to Laura's other half, Monica. Showing her the idol and telling her he'd take her to the end.

I don't get the point of Russell showing all the Galu people the idol. Doesn't he know they are going to talk and by the end of the day everyone would know he had the idol? It didn't make sense until he and John spoke. There the two connected in a way I didn't expect. John somewhat trusts Russell, or at least I think he may be using him the say way Russell thinks he's using John. So it may be a somewhat workable alliance. The two talked about voting out Laura and John was on board. Now Russell needed one more vote so he grabbed his old buddy Shambo who jumped on the chance to vote off Laura. The fight sealed the deal and as the new Aiga tribe went into the first individual immunity challenge the plan was set to vote off Laura. But oh how things change so quickly in the game of Survivor.

The immunity challenge was another kiddie game turned Survivor challenge. They played tee-ball where they hit a ball into a course, the person with the highest point won. I'm not sure why they are reverting to Big Brother challenges lately but it's kinda making me mad. They have had all these epic challenges in the past but this season things are so simple, I don't get it. I blame the economy! Anyway Jeff pulled out two immunity necklaces so both the male and female highest point getters would win. In the end John and Laura came out victorious and everyone cringed a little. Most knew that Laura was going but with her being safe that couldn't happened. Russell was the one to scramble the most and scrambling he, and everyone, did when they got back to camp.

First thing Russell did was talk to Shambo to see howt he vote would go. He wanted Monica out but she wouldn't budge, making Russell believe that he would be the one getting the vote. Galu members then talked and it was decided that they would say the vote was Russell but vote out Jaison since Russell had the idol. That plan should have worked but John switched it up, telling Erik to vote out Monica which led the guys to jump on the bandwagon. Erik then got a big head and told Natalie/Jaison/Mick to vote for Monica but let Russell think that he's going to use the idol. Of course that wasn't going to happen and knowing that she had to save him, Natalie worked magic I didn't know she had. She talked to Laura about Erik wanting Monica gone and of course she couldn't have that. She and Kelly then agreed to vote Erik out and after telling Monica the plan was set. Dave and the other guys got in on the knowledge and it seemed that Erik was dead but with his hidden idol he couldn't find out or he was surely be staying.

It was then time for Tribal Council where Jeff tried to pit the old tribal lines against each other even more. Erik dug his own whole by calling Foa Foa idiots, basically, and forcing Jaison to speak up. We know that Jaison isn't scared to lay into someone at Tribal but I doubt Erik knew that. Russell also talked about knowing they still had a chance and after the votes were cast Russell used his idol, which was a bit shocking. He pretty much knew that he was safe, but with everyone knowing already he had it he decided to use it anyway just to get rid of it. No votes were cast against him though and with Erik having the most Erik became the first jury member and took the second idol out with him. I'm not sure how that will play out, maybe a new one will get hidden but I'm sure next week will be interesting as the scrambling continues on the new and improved Survivor Samoa!
