Fuel TV's Drive Thru is apparently back for a new season, taking place in Australia. I've never heard of the show before but recently had a chance
to preview the first episode and I must say it was pretty good. It's a simple concept, take a bunch of pro surfers, give them a few RVs and send them
to a well known surfing country. The guys then get to spend a good amount of time hanging out, driving to different surf spots and well,
surf.
The first episode gives you pretty much a good idea of how the entire show will be. After landing in Australia the guys spend the entire
first day just hanging out and surfing in two different locations. They don't have much luck but overall most seem to have a good time. It is shot in
documentary style so if you don't mind the lack of pre-made competition, there will be some surely between the guys, then the show may be for you. It
features songs from somewhat unknown artists, at least to me, and features them throughout the show so you also get some music along the
way.
Overall I'll probably tune in for Drive Thru Australia a few times just to check it out. Like I said I've never seen the show before and
with its simple concept I'm not sure how original they can get each recurring episode. I must admit though, it was fun watching some of the wipeouts
the guys had, and they had pretty many the first episode. Them surfing is the best part of the show simply because its fun to watch and the slow-mo
footage sucks you in as you wonder will they make it out or crash towards the end!

series Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 8:30 pm ET/PT. The all-star crew will attempt to “Drive Thru” both the East and West Coasts of
Australia in search of the best waves.This new season of “Drive Thru” features the return of regulars Pat O’Connell (star of
“Endless Summer II”), Benji Weatherley (former World Tour competitor) and free surfer/recording artist Donavon Frankenreiter. Also
returning is 1999 ASP World Champ Mark “Occy” Occhilupo, who made his “Drive Thru” debut last season for “Drive Thru:
New Zealand.” Hawaiian big-wave charger and former World Tour standout Shane Dorian rejoins the “Drive Thru” cast after six years.
The crew is also joined by all-star surfers including three-time world champion Hawaiian Andy Irons; Australian Joel Parkinson, currently ranked
number two in the world; and Australian Taj Burrow, currently ranked number seven in the world, for segments of the trip.
