Tonight we found out which 4 contestants were sent home on American Idol. 2 guys and 2 girls were eliminated tonight, bring the Top 24 down to the Top
20. The Top 24 sang “American Boy” by Estelle and surprisingly, it wasn’t as bas as I thought it’d be. A couple of parts were
even good. Usually the group performances are a mess but I thought it sounded in key and it couldn’t really have been better with that many
people singing the same song together. The girls were told about their eliminations first. Siobhan was told she was safe – great!
We’re off to a good start. Then Haeley was told she was safe – WHAT! America, seriously? I’m not okay with this. Then Michelle and
Katelyn were told they were safe, which was to be expected. For the first round of girls, we were down to Katie and Janell. Between the two of them, I
would have guessed that Janell would be sent home, and she was. However, I think this was a bit premature and I completely blame this on song choice.
She does have a cute voice and she left with a smile on her face. But really, out of this group of girls, Haeley should have gone home.
Allison Iraheta was back on the Idol stage to perform her new single “Scars”. I liked the performance and love her raspy voice. I
definitely got a Pink vibe from her, just like last season. Back to the girl’s results. Paige was told she was safe, which I figured.
Then Lacey was told she was safe and I jumped for joy! I’m so glad she was given a second chance because I really like this girl. Lilly and
Crystal were safe which we all knew would happen. It was then down to Ashley and Didi, and between the two, I would have sent Ashley home. She was
indeed the one sent home, and this one I blame on just a bad performance. I really thought she had potential during the early auditions, but Tuesday
night’s performance was just a mess. I’m not surprised that she was sent home. She seemed surprised or upset herself because she acted
very weird when speaking to Ryan and sang another poor rendition of “Happy”. Alright, 2 down, 2 to go. For the boys, Michael was
first told he was safe, which I figured, but then that was followed by John, Aaron AND Todrick all being safe as well. Huh? This just doesn’t
sound like it’s going the right way at all. It was down to Tim and Joe, and I was SURE that Tim would be sent home. But of course, I was wrong
again, and I was saddened to see Joe sent home. I figured this was because he just hadn’t stood out in the crowd very much, but he definitely
proved that he had one of the best guy voices this year. Better luck next time, Joe. But seriously, America wanted to keep Tim? This episode was
totally throwing me off. Kris Allen also stopped by the Idol stage to perform a special and touching rendition of “Let It Be” for
Haiti. Ah Kris, thank you for your sweet performance. I miss your talent and you being weekly eye candy. Back to the results. Casey was told
he was safe, obviously. Then Jermaine was told he was safe – another surprise to me! What a weird night. Then Lee and Andrew were told they were
safe, which was relieving. It was down to Tyler and Alex, and once again, I was convinced that Alex had to be the one leaving over Tyler. However,
Ryan asked Simon who he thought was leaving and he called out Tyler. Damn you, Simon. Tyler was also sent home, finalizing that this has to be one of
the weirdest elimination rounds ever. Two guys with great voices and potential left tonight, which doesn’t leave too much talent left with the
group of guys remaining. We’ll see how they end up doing. Well clearly I need to work on my predictions and clearly America needs to
make better decisions when voting for people on the show. I don’t even know where the group will go from here, but I’m sure we’ll be
in store for more surprises. Idol is back on next Tuesday – tune in then to see who rises to the challenge and who falls flat.
